Privacy Policy

My Leon™ is a web and mobile application that allows a patient to have secure access to matters relating to the patient's health care from Leon Medical Centers, including access to a portion of his or her electronic medical record. It also provides a patient with a convenient method for communicating with Leon Medical Centers for non-urgent messages. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, My Leon™ provides the following services to patients through its web-based portal:

  • •Receiving selected laboratory diagnostic and procedure results;
  • •Communicating with Leon Medical Centers physicians and other healthcare employees regarding healthcare matters;
  • •Schedule and request appointments;
  • •Requesting prescription refills and renewals; and
  • •Linking to other web-based clinical information sites.

Whether you engage with My Leon through your mobile device, desktop computer, or your web browser, we may collect your personal information for a number of purposes as described in this Privacy Policy.

My Leon may update this Privacy Policy, as new features and services are added, as laws change, and as industry privacy and security practices evolve. However, we will take reasonable steps to notify you of material changes we make to this Policy. You are responsible for regularly reviewing this Policy. Your continued use of the MyLeon Patient Portal constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. Small changes or changes that do not significantly affect individual privacy interests may be made at any time and without prior notice.


Leon Medical Centers takes very seriously its obligation to protect the confidentiality of your personal information. My Leon’s mobile applications for iOS and Android, are intended to connect to servers and systems operated and maintained by Leon Medical Centers in order to provide you secure, mobile access to those systems and to your health information.

This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Leon Medical Center’s mobile applications for patients (My Leon) use, store, and transmit information and data. Leon Medical Centers may modify this Privacy Policy at any time effective upon its posting. Your use of our Applications constitutes your acceptance of this Privacy Policy and any updates.

Your Personal Information

Our Applications and the Limited Ways in which Leon Medical Centers Uses Your Information

Leon Medical Centers does not sell or license any information that you may provide to us as you use our Applications. Depending on which feature you are using, you may be asked to provide personal information such as name, address, telephone number, email address, credit or debit card information, etc.

The amount and type of information that we receive depends on how you use My Leon and the information you choose to submit to us via the application. The information collected will be used to improve your experience on the application, to provide services to you, to communicate with you about information that you request, respond to your questions and concerns, communicate with users about our services, and related issues, and to conduct research and analysis.

Except for those things stated below, our Applications does not send your personal information directly to Epic and does not store any of your personal information on your device or in the cloud-based storage solution associated with your device (i.e., iCloud or its equivalent).

My Leon attempts to minimize the amount of your personal or health information stored or retained on your device. Nevertheless, our Applications may:

  • •Store a copy of a picture on your device if you choose to add a picture to your profile on My Leon.
  • •Create encrypted identifiers to identify target healthcare providers for HealthKit or Google Fit data, if you are using HealthKit or Google Fit.
  • •Temporarily store your personal information in memory or on the device while you use our Application.
  • •In addition, in order to provide you certain features, our Applications may request information from servers and systems owned or operated by Leon Medical Centers and those servers and systems may record technical information about that request such as an IP address and information related to the type of device, platform, and operating system you use with our Applications.

HealthKit and Google Fit

With your permission, certain versions of our Applications can connect to Apple HealthKit or Google Fit to receive health information and to share that information with your healthcare providers.

MyLeon will not share your health information with HealthKit, Google Fit, or other software enabled with HealthKit or Google Fit.

Mobile Location Information

While using your mobile device, your device may share location information (when you enable location services) with our application. For example, precise geo-location can be used to help you find nearby Leon Medical Centers locations or assist with appointment arrival. To manage how to share your device’s location, go to Account Settings within the My Leon application.

How We Protect Your Personal Information

The security of your information and data while using our Applications is very important to us. Our Applications employ a variety of technical safeguards to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of your personal information including supporting Transport Layer Security (TLS)/Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate technology and encryption.

  • •All messages sent to you will be encrypted.
  • •Emails from you to the staff should be through this portal or they are not secure.
  • •We will keep all email lists confidential and will not share this with other parties.
  • •Any member of our staff may read your messages or reply in order to help the Physician that has been e-mailed. This is similar to how a phone message is handled.
  • •Our system will check when messages are viewed, so you do not need to reply that you have read it.


Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed as 100 percent secure; but Leon Medical Centers uses its best commercially reasonable efforts to use the most current data security technology available to protect your information, and to continue to implement the new security methods as they become available.

You will only access My Leon in a matter consistent with these terms. You must keep safe the sign-on and password assigned to you and will not share your log-in information with anyone else.

Leon Medical Centers will not be liable for any disclosure of information due to unauthorized use of your sign-on and password. If you your sign on and password combination has been compromised, contact Leon Medical Centers immediately or go to the portal and request a new password.
